A new, Independent Commission on Community and Cohesion gets underway this spring.
The Commission will seek to understand how to strengthen community connectedness, cohesion and resilience, developing recommendations for policymakers and a collective vision for the future of our communities. The initiative, convened by the Together Coalition, also has the backing of both the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.
British Future is pleased to be supporting the commission, working with Belong to develop its early evidence base. We’ll be reviewing existing expert evidence and seeking a wide range of views through a new call for evidence, to be issued shortly. We’ll also be taking an initial snapshot of public opinion through a nationally representative survey and discussion groups across the country.
A later phase of the project will seek the views of citizens through a major public engagement exercise, before a final report is published at the end of the project.
We are now inviting contributions to a call for evidence to help shape the early phase of the commission. If you have insights, experiences, or ideas about how we can build more connected, cohesive and resilient communities, we want to hear from you. We are seeking written submissions or short videos that focus on various topics and questions. All evidence, however brief, will be gratefully received.
You’ll find more details about the Commission and the Call for Evidence at www.livingwelltogether.org.uk and can also submit evidence via email to evidence@livingwelltogether.org.uk
