Who are the English? An Exploration of English Identity
Event type:Date:
Location: The Great Hall, Blandford Square, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE1 4JA
The long history of migration in England has created an ever changing and diverse population, so in light of this British Future, IPPR and Discovery Museum Newcastle will host an event to ask what it means to be English.
If we live in England, we are increasingly identifying ourselves as English rather than British. This event will explore the idea of modern Englishness with excerpts from the BAFTA award winning film I am Nasrine.
Speakers at this event include:
- Shiraz Haq, lead male actor in the film I am Nasrine
- Mark Robinson, northeast writer and director of Thinking Practice
- Baroness Joyce Quin, former minister for Europe and MP for Gateshead East and Washington West
- Matthew Rhodes, director of strategy and relationships at British Future
This event is free but booking is essential. Refreshments will be provided. Book your tickets here.
