The Notting Hill Carnival returns again this year in its traditional place on the calendar, the August bank holiday in W11.
Started back in 1965 as a showcase for steel bands, the event has grown to become the largest street in Europe.
20 miles of floats displaying vibrant colours combine with 40 static soundsystems and the smell of fresh Caribbean cooking to provide the atmosphere for the expected 1 million revellers.
Saturday features a steel band competition ahead of children’s day on Sunday. Bank Holiday Monday will feature the main parade. Starting on Great Western Road winding around pedestrianised roads before ending at Ladbroke Grove.
Everyday events will begin at 9am and continue throughout the day until 7pm.
