My Journey in Islam: From Brighton to Makka
Event type:Date:
Location: Brighton Museum and Art Gallery, 4/5, Pavilion Buildings, Prince's St, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 1EE
This display was created with members of the Young Ummah Project, a group for young Muslims in Brighton & Hove. Using objects and film the young people explore the Five Pillars, the key beliefs of Islam. They discuss how their faith is woven into their everyday lives. The Five Pillars are Shahada (belief in one God and the Prophet Muhammad), Salah (daily ritual prayer), Zakah (charity), Sawm (fasting during the month of Ramadan) and Hajj (pilgrimage to the sacred city of Makka).
