Loyalist or Royalist? Identity in Unionist Murals

Event type:
Date:
Location: Ulster Museum, Belfast

Depictions of royalty, outside of King William III, have been rare in unionist murals.

But there are other ways in which the murals speak of British identity. In addition, recently they sometimes articulate an Ulster-Scots identity. Most often of all, loyalist murals in recent decades have been firmly rooted in an identification with Ulster. This illustrated talk by Bill Rolston, director of the Transitional Justice Institute, will explore the divergence and overlap in these different interpretations of unionist identity.

Admission for this event is free and booking in advance is not necessary. For more information please see http://www.nmni.com/um/What-s-on/Talks—Lectures/Loyalist-or-Royalist–Identity-in-Unionist-Murals
