Divorcing a nation: what happens if Scotland separates?

Event type:
Date:
Location: IPPR North, 3rd Floor, 20 Collingwood Street, Newcastle NE1 1JF

On the 18th September 2014, Scotland will vote on whether it wants to leave or stay in the UK. This is Scotland’s decision, but a ‘yes’ vote will also have a big impact on what remains of the United Kingdom. Speaking at this event, Dr Angus Armstrong, Director of Macroeconomic Research at the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, and Bridget Phillipson, MP for Houghton and Sunderland South, will discuss the likelihood of independence and what this would mean for its nearest neighbour, the North of England.
