We work to raise the profile of integration, with policy recommendations to increase contact between people from different backgrounds.
We need to think about integration and social connection in a new way – refusing to divide people into ‘Them and Us’, whether that’s about migrants, ethnic minorities or British Muslims.
We put forward concrete ideas to make integration an ‘everybody’ issue, shaping a ‘New Us’ so we can all feel part of a country that is closer, kinder and more connected.
British Future is proud to be a founding member of the Together coalition, which works to bring people together and bridge divides, to help build a kinder, closer and more connected society. To inform Together’s work, British Future conducted ‘Talk/together‘, the UK’s biggest-ever conversation about what unites and divides us and what could bring us closer together. Politicians and civil society leaders in the West Midlands urge candidates in next week’s mayoral election to support a new proposal to promote integration.
It finds that people of all backgrounds agree progress has stalled on racial equality and may even be going backwards. Nearly half of white respondents (48%) and ethnic minority respondents (44%) feel racial equality is getting worse rather than better.
